Eclipse and Immigrants

Another prologue from the Daily Show to entertain readers in Scotland and abroad. This time satirist Jon Stewart pours scorn on media people who blame their country’s ills on immigrants.

Scotland has a similar problem, only in Scotland’s case it’s mainly true, for we are a colonised country governed by our neighbour. I’ve yet to hear politicians in, say, Portugal demand their country is governed by Spain, on the basis it has more land and tourists and is far more fascist in oulook. In Scotland we pay colonials to berate us daily, give them government positions, our addiction to S&M complete, their legalised antics reminding us we are a small people.

Demographics are of paramount importance if welcoming incomers who will vote NO is a referendum or election designed to attain a majority of YES voters for reinstating Scotland full civil and constitutional rights. America is truly a crucible of many cultures gathered over a century, just a pity they then set about slaughtering the Indigenous natives and stealing their land.

Which is why in my opinion ONLY Scots get to vote in the franchise, all others that are there will have the choice of being a Scottish citizen, take it or leave it, it’s not your choice.

Incomers who want to have a Scots passport can apply for naturalisation once we are independent again. Those who want to remain with their original country of birth will be free to make that choice.

In a critical vote on this nation’s constitutional rights, evidence of being domiciled continually in Scotland for more than 20 years has to be the minimum stay.

When discussing this topic I always refer to the indigenous people’s from around the world , in October 2023 there was a vote taken in Australia where the indigenous Aboriginals had requested a permanent representation within the Australian parliament to ensure their voices could and would be heard ,the indigenous Aboriginals had been trying for years to secure representation, the vote result was overwhelmingly AGAINST granting that representation and request, WTAF the ORIGINAL inhabitants of the country , the NATIVES were DENIED permanent representation by the NEW Australians, but I bet that every other minority grouping will have statutory enforced representation

I agree with Haagshighlander constitutional matters should only be decided by indigenous Scots , I have to question why people feel it is their ENTITLEMENT to be consulted on the independence question , if they genuinely believe Scotland should be independent they should be happy when it happens , but they should also remind themselves that all the other incomers have proven that that is not necessarily their belief

I have seen many comments that we should be delighted and grateful that people have chosen to come here and we should thank them for choosing Scotland , I don’t support that viewpoint, I think people should be grateful and indebted that we allow them to come to our beautiful country, TBQH I am sick of people undermining and undervaluing our nationhood , our politicians especially would give our nationhood away with MacDonalds vouchers

I want people to RESPECT and VALUE our nationhood NOT demand and assert what they want us to concede

When we have our independence they can APPLY for citizenship, but just like other countries who value their nationhood they will have to comply with certain criteria

As someone born just south of the border, we moved north 24 years ago thinking Scotland would cast off the English yoke within maybe 10 years, members of SNP for 20 years, then ALBA, now given up on all political parties as it’s obvious none of them will put the Scottish peoples interests above their own. Freeports will be the final nail in the independence coffin. Should have moved to the Isle of Man, which was an option.

I always thought a ten year stay would be enough but now I am with you, 20 years and I rather like the citizenship idea too.
