Gender Bill Fiasco

Right Hon Alex Salmond MP, leader of the ALBA party

The former first minister of Scotland, the Right Hon Alex Salmond MP, the politician most credited with awakening Scotland’s perception of its servile reality, calls the Gender Bill ‘self-indulgent nonsense’ and accuses Nicola Sturgeon and SNP of ‘throwing away’ years of building indy support. He made the remarks at a Burns supper evening.

The openly bizarre gender ideology is an American construct, created by a Big Pharma company and addressed to universities and the gay reform organisation Stonewall, a company in the UK unable to explain the meaning or define what a woman is – the ideology seen as an out and out attack on women’s rights by women hating men. (See links below.)

MSPs passed the Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Bill by 86 votes to 39 before Christmas, approving reforms which would allow trans people to obtain a gender recognition certificate (GRC) without the need for a medical diagnosis.

The legislation has since been blocked by the UK Government using a section 35 order.

Critics of the Bill have had their arguments further fuelled by the case of Isla Bryson – born Adam Graham – who was moved from Cornton Vale women’s prison in Stirling to HMP Edinburgh last month following a public backlash.

In footage posted to Twitter, he accused Sturgeon of “throwing away” momentum for Scottish independence built over a number of years for the new gender laws. He stressed SNP leaders “well understood” the need to win over all parts of Scottish society to achieve independence at a referendum.

He added, “To get to a position where you say to a majority of our people that you cannot have single-sex spaces – prized and worked and strived for – because of some daft ideology imported from elsewhere and, as we’ve seen imperfectly understood by its proponents in Scotland, borders on the totally absurd,” he told the gatherine.

“And the 6 per cent decline in independence vote over a month – think about that. Thirty years of gradually building, building, building, building till we get independence over 50 per cent and then thrown away with some self-indulgent nonsense. Which even if it was right, which it isnae, would hardly be tactically the most astute manoeuvre when we’re meant to be taking Scotland to its next date with destiny.”

Mr Salmond’s comments come after a YouGov poll for the Sunday Times published on the weekend showed support for the party dropped from 50 per cent to 44 per cent in the Holyrood constituency vote, when compared to the results of the same poll in December. The YouGov survey for the Sunday Times of 1,088 Scottish voters shows support for the party dropped from 50 per cent to 44 per cent in the Holyrood constituency vote and from 40 per cent to 36 per cent in the regional list, when compared to the results of the same poll in December.

The fieldwork for the poll was being done at the same time as a row over the imprisonment of double rapist Isla Bryson was raging in Scotland. Bryson, who committed two rapes while she was a man, was initially housed in segregation at Cornton Vale near Stirling – Scotland’s only all-female prison – before being moved to the male estate after public and political outcry. The saga led to Scottish justice secretary Keith Brown pausing the movement of transgender prisoners into women’s jails if they have a history of violence.

Support for independence also dropped substantially, from 53 per cent to 47 per cent among decided voters. SNP support at Westminster dropped marginally from 43 per cent to 42 per cent. The leading UK pollster, professor Sir John Curtis stated the drop was mostly due to the gender issue, that and the battering the SNP had taken recently over other missteps such as the ferry fiasco.

Current First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has said she plans to run the next UK election as a “de-facto referendum” in the hopes of achieving a majority of votes north of the border and securing negotiations on independence. Critics says he enters the arena not having prepared Scots about the benefits.

Sturgeon’s recent press session collapsed into ridicule when she failed to state what a woman was in answer to a straight question, or that a double rapist Bryson was not a woman just because he had said so. The event further reduced her standing as a leading politician. Neverthe;less, she remains resolute that her plans to run the next UK election as a “de-facto referendum” will not be delayed, but in the hopes of achieving a majority of votes north of the border and securing negotiations on independence. Critics says she enters the Big Day arena not having prepared Scots about the benefits of a free Scotland, or having educated them about their colonial reality.

The dip in support for independence after months of a steady rise has seen more calls for Nicola Sturgeon to step down from her post and allow the main nationalist party to repair the damage she has overseen, too many gone array policies her own creation.

at no time were the implications of the Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Bill logically thought through and analysed. Anyone opposing it was shouted down as “transphobic, misogynist, racist etc”. FM Sturgeon’s leadership of the SNP and her ideological support of an untenable precept “Transwomen are women” has led to the disgrace of the Scottish parliament, loss of support for the SNP and Independence and the break-up of the Independence movement.

I’ve a feeling she never felt up to seizing independence and chose to chase squirrels in the vicinity.

GB: by early 2015, this stuff was firmly embedded in the SNP. Within months of the 2014 vote. That suggests that it was already infiltrating the party, probably from the youth wing. The huge influx of former far left Labour voters and would-be politicians, many of them very young and very inexperienced and very immature, cemented this stuff in the very marrow of the parliamentary party.

By 2016, and even as Brexit was simmering, it was rapidly spreading its tentacles into every area of government, every area of public service and so on, and appointees were notably ‘woke’. I am willing and happy to be proved wrong, but I think Nicola Sturgeon herself was already open to it when she became leader. I’m afraid I never believed her to be a staunch supporter of independence, but more of a devolutionist or, at least, a ‘everything must be optimal and nothing a risk kind of politician.

Partnered with Alec Salmond, however, it was harder to see the real Nicola Sturgeon, and she managed to avoid close scrutiny until recently. She, herself, came up through the youth wing, as, of course, do many, but I think she is looking to the future of the party and of Scotland – not the future of the Scottish population. She sees this stuff as being supported primarily by the educated off-spring of the middle-class, mainly (the core of the party now) but right across the board by the educated youth, who are meeting this stuff everywhere they go – at school, at college, at university.

They, she believes are the future, not old fogeys like us, and the future is ‘woke’ (remember her ridiculous plea to the spoilt brats who had left in a strop). She took part in Pride marches but never independence ones: youth versus age. On top of that, the Greens have her by the short and curlies because they made this conditional on having their support for her budget and the supremacy of the party at Holyrood. In short, she by-passed the adults in favour of the toddlers and will pay the price.

    “and will pay the price”
Do you think that will happen any time soon? Is anyone actually going to challenge her? What’s wrong with them all, they’re not stupid, they must see that even many of their own voters are stepping back from them over all this? Surely they’re worried for their own seats?

  5. Howard Cairns says:

The SNP members have “NO GUTS” or determination cowed by the FM and her cronies. I hope she is replaced soon with someone who has intelligence. Maybe all the unhappy SNP elected members can just leave the party and become ALBA members. All of a sudden would we have ALBA running the political show?

  6. Alastair says:

Sturgeons misrule of Scotland is by design. GRA politics is being pushed to attach ridicule to the Scottish government and crush the independence movement. Westminster want to close Hollyrood and impose direct rule in the guise of federalism. Sturgeon must be removed form power every day she is there she damages the Independence movement. If there are those in the SNP that still care about Scotland, now is the time to remove this imposter.
    Dissolve the Union.
