I thoroughly enjoyed the first show and I’m delighted that Salmond is broadcasting again. I hope numbers will rise as more instalments are released.
The guests provided factual information on the important subject of energy and made it interesting throughout. It is sad that hostility towards Salmond as a result of the number done on him by his successor, his former Party and the media means that so many people will not have seen this. It deserves better.
This programme wasn’t put out to do pointless Party-politics. That’s what I liked most about it. I wish Alex Salmond well with it.

The topics are right on the money.
Digging down would also help, such as ,say who was involved in the cheap sell off , of our valuable resources.
Plus how to reclaim , no point in allowing those to get away with all this.
Land reform full active attack, the existing Scottish constitution and discussions on its implementation .
Short circuiting and going for ending the union, by disclosing all the English and their Scottish rogue’s
    Assistants.
I could listen to Craig, Alex ,Robin all day well done to tasmina and all the folks behind the scenes.
The greatest of thanks, it’s a breath of fresh air blowing through the stink.
Get the SNP govt on to explain their incompetence and in letting down Scotland , I don’t think they should get away as easily , as they seem to be doing .
They shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near holyrood.

thanks for publishing the Scotland Speaks show here. Makes it very easy for people to see it. Very much enjoyed the 1st episode. Mr MacAskill was a very interesting and highly skilled engineer. Scotland should be proud to produce such people

  4. sadscot says:

    @benmadigan
I agree. It was so interesting listening to him and informative too. Again, this is something so many people would benefit from seeing compared with some of the absolute rubbish that passes for current affairs/politics on mainstream TV.

  5. duncanio says:

I am pleased the sellout that was the ScotWind ‘auction’ was called out for the utter scandal that it undoubtedly was.

The only question in my head is:

Was it sheer incompetence or intentional betrayal?

  6. Robert Hughes says:

    Good first edition/episode .

Not to get too hung-up on personalities ….I get what’s said above about Tasmina’s presenting style , however , personally , I think her manifest enthusiasm , positivity and general likeability more than make up for what others may consider ” over excitability ” .
As we know from his RT broadcast show , Alex is a great interviewer , asking the right questions and – crucially – allowing his interlocutors the time to answer them .

Early days , but I hope the programme will find space for features on Scotland’s music , literary , artistic etc culture/s . The engagement of whom seems to have all but evaporated since the 2014 campaign . Another reflection of the dismal , joyless , barren Sturgeon Era .

Yes , thanks for posting the show here , Gareth .

  7. sadscot says:

Fair enough, Robert. I can only speak for myself and I find her way of speaking irritating and unnatural. That can be off-putting. I’ve heard her speaking at other times and she sounded perfectly fine. I’d prefer to hear her speaking like that as it’s more relaxing and works very well.

  8. Robert Hughes says:

It may just be nerves , Sadscot . I imagine speaking direct to camera can be a bit intimidating and cause some to come across differently to how they are in person

  9. Grouse Beater says:

I’ll be talking about this at my speaking and Q&A engagement in Dunfermline on Thusday.

    Very good show.

On maximising benefits from offshore wind, Craig is right that the sea bed leases were a giveaway. However, aside from that national strategic error, Scotland as host nation should also be receiving a royalty based on the amount of kwh energy produced here and exported and that would give the nation a constant and rising income from our vast resources. Scots still miss out on a similar royalty for oil and gas, and other major sectors such as whisky. Collectively the value of all these exports may soon exceed £100 billion annually, yet from which the nation/people of Scotland currently receive virtually nothing.

There has been no explanation why ‘freeport status’ was necessary for Cromarty; the offshore investment was already going ahead with most of the equipment being manufactured in other countries, only installed and maintained here.
