Shaming Scotland

It will rank as Nicola’s Sturgeon’s greatest error to have embraced her colonial civil servants, led by the infamously inept misandry of chief adviser Leslie Evans, when Sturgeon accepted the complete unexpurgated warped ideology, the cockamamie crap of Stonewall as a better goal to achieve than an unrelenting determination to secure self-governance for all the people.

Trans people already had full rights under a Bill passed during Alex Salmond’s tenure, but that was cast aside. Rainbow symbols appeared everywhere and on everything representing the polar opposite of enlightened times. Now it represented repression, not of a tiny minority, but of the majority’s voice and representation, the antithesis of the democratic system. The unhappiness this nasty policy has caused is incalculable.

Unthinking, outsmarted institutions adopted the rainbow symbol of renewal without really understanding what it meant in its new guise or what they were doing. They are the equivalent of the over-courteous driver who stops the flow of traffic to let a driver out of a side street oblivious of the complete steaming snarl-up they are causing behind them, horns parping, tempers frayed.

Suddenly ‘sexually fluid’ men were leaking everywhere, screaming into people’s faces, some sentenced for crimes against women, quickly changing their names and demanding they be placed in a woman’s prison. One half-expected them to have a woman assigned to their bed for warmth and therapy. No judge asked the lipstick smeared bearded guy in the dock had a G-pot.

They were backed by super-empathetic gay SNP politicians acting as if gay rights were still a taboo subject never to be uttered out loud in civilised company. Our first minister must surely have felt her sexual ambivalence was the shared hue and cry of a tragic minority, and she their appointed Saint Joan.

Even the normally sane Joanna Cherry MP joined in mob denounciation. A lowly staff member of the Royal Academy slack-handedly rejected an emroiderist from selling more of her goods in the RA shop, a one-person decision taken without authority, most staff on Covid leave, and the bulk of the RA’s staff – ironically female – subjected to ridicule and harrassment by idiots who turned the specific into the general to feed their spittle flecked political goals. Female staff recoiled and hid, jumped by the GRA Internet mob. It became clear rationality was a victim.

At a time the planet’s well-being is under severe threat, we homosapiens too, the result has been a self-inflicted hell on this nation of ours, a fierce hatred expressed by a tiny minority on the majority, and thousands of aware women alientated by the very government they elected. Matters got so dire that a former SNP leader of Edinburgh city council was prepared to spend £5 million of his city’s precious rates on multi-sex toilets, all while the homeless and the hungry around him looked to survive a day more.

If anything ought to have been shelved until after our birthright had been reassigned to us, it was the warped, Big Pharma concocted crapology of GRA reform. The main progenator, Stonewall, a once fine institution fallen on hard times, that at the last minute of winding up its affairs found a cash-rich source of new life, ought to have been fined and closed down for advocating a pseudo fanatical religion that demanded fees and donations to keep it afloat.

Ordinary men looked on in astonishment at the harm GRA reform was doing to society, women got mobilised to resist a capitalist attack on their very existence. Scotland’s first minister decided heterosexual women did not count in the debate over the sordid affair she had helped to inflame. Now and then, a glimpse of sanity appeared like a ray of sunshine, when a trans person popped up to say they had no argument with society and did not indentify with the denouncers, but such moments were fleeting, soon drowned out. The ugly rush to judgement flowed unabated sweeping all before it. Women’s rights, acquired after a hundred years of struggle were as nothing. Respect, equality and dignity of the female of the species was swept aside by the steely determination of a government paying thousands of pounds of taxpayer money – taken from women as well as men – handed to iffy organisations.

Trans rights had never been in jeopardy yet the SNP promoted the lie that they were. Whatever rough edge needed smoothed could have been a task addressed post-independence. The undermining of a mass movement for Scotland’s full democractic rights was submerged and stifled in a torrent of abuse and misinformation. The SNP and Nicola Sturgeon in particular stand accused of demeaning and degrading their own nation and its people.

The agents of the British State rubbed their hands in glee. Pulled out of Europe thus blocking Scotland’s trade East and West, colonial institutions built in the capital city under the nose of the SNP, added to the colonial oppressor’s view its campaign of bringing Scotland down to doubt and division is a winning strategy.

SHAMING SCOTLAND

by Kevin McKenna

If the Gender Recognition Reform Bill continues its progress through the Scottish Parliament, it’s worth recalling JK Rowling’s tweet from 2019: “Dress however you please. Call yourself whatever you like. Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you. Live your best life in peace and security. But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real?”

The author’s words expressed reasonable concerns in a responsible manner, yet she has since become the object of an orchestrated, three-year campaign of hate. Scots who have concerns about self-ID, removing the need for medical experts and lowering the applicable age to 16 have been branded transphobic bigots by their own government. It’s a lie.

As with other minorities, we want them to be free to live their best lives protected from discrimination and supported by the law. Reasonably-minded Scots believe there is room for transgender rights to be protected alongside women’s rights to safe spaces and their protected, sex-based characteristics.

The Scottish Government though is effectively saying that we can’t have both and that women’s rights must be sacrificed. It is effectively seeking to create a two-tier system of human rights where to be a woman living in Scotland is to be denied many of the rights men enjoy.

A woman can no longer be reasonably confident that she can use a changing room in a shop or sports facility without a fully intact male sharing her private space. She now also knows that, following years of increased public awareness about violence against women, she can no longer be reasonably confident that the police will take action to protect her from the risk of violence. In fact, she now risks ending her day in a prison cell for doing what society, politicians and the police were encouraging her to do up until a few years ago. This is largely because, one by one, the main stakeholders in civic Scotland have been captured by the same lie: that a man can become a woman simply by dressing up in a way which he thinks makes him look like.

No woman prisoner, many of whom have been driven to desperate measures as a result of maltreatment at the hands of males, can now be reasonably confident that she won’t become prey to fully-intact men presenting as women to avoid the harsher regime of a male prison, or to pursue something darker.

No woman who has suffered sexual violence at the hands of a male can now be reasonably confident that the former safe space provided by a women’s refuge will protect them from men presenting as women.

Lesbians who, until recently, were entitled to believe they had made serious progress in being treated equally in diverse Scotland, are now being subject to threats of sexual violence and accusations of bigotry if they defend their right to sleep exclusively with people of their own sex.

No female victim of rape or serious sexual assault in Scotland can be reasonably confident that their request for a biological female to conduct an intimate medical examination will be granted. Instead, they risk being warned about having a hateful attitude.

Women who campaigned for decades to be treated equally in the workplace and in society now find that their centuries-old struggles have been in vain and that their sex-based rights risk being erased. And much of this has been enacted by women who have benefited richly from the sacrifices and courage of older feminists throughout the 20th century.

Once, women had a reasonable expectation that by having breasts, a vagina and a womb they could claim exclusive and protected rights. Now they find that in modern Scotland and across the UK those terms indicating womanhood are being deleted and replaced by a contrived lexicon of terminological sophistry. They now find themselves being defined solely by their body parts and sexual organs as a means of granting shared ownership to men seeking merely to portray themselves as women. It’s the ultimate objectification and degradation of women.

Alongside this process of eliminating what it means to be a woman, vulnerable children are being used as specimens in an unregulated social experiment being carried out by clinics providing ‘gender realignment’ advice and services. Thus parents of some psychologically vulnerable child seeking advice about their sexual identity can no longer be reasonably confident that their children will not be pressured into life-changing and extreme surgery. Nor can they ever expect to be informed about this.

Gay men and women who fought against the evil of Section 28 now find that their struggle has been distorted by people claiming an equivalence with those seeking to impose self-id. This is also a lie, but an insidious and well-crafted one. The way in which lesbians in particular have been targeted recalls a time before the repeal of Section 28 when their sexual status was regarded as something to be concealed and never spoken of.

The Scottish Government has become a job opportunity scheme for a group of young party zealots who have specialised in threatening behaviour towards feminists raising concerns about self-ID. They are secure in the knowledge that they operate under the direct patronage of the SNP leadership. The SNP didn’t allow a conscience vote on the Gender Recognition Reform Bill and are thus guilty of discrimination against those whose sincerely held religious beliefs prevented them from supporting all of its measures. This was a sinister and malicious act of political bullying.

This was further underlined by Nicola Sturgeon’s callous response to Ash Regan, following the resignation of her Minister for Community Safety on conscience grounds over the Gender Recognition Reform Bill. The SNP MP Alyn Smith then issued a barely concealed threat to those party colleagues who defied the whip to vote against the bill or to abstain. “I would imagine those who do not support our own government,” he said “will be getting a torrid time from their constituency parties and local members soon enough.”

Under any terms of employment his chilling words would be seen as bullying in the workplace. This is the SNP though, and bullying in the workplace, especially at Westminster, has become their favoured means of exerting control.

Under the First Minister’s leadership, the Scottish Government has failed all of Scotland’s poorest communities and presided over the worst drugs death rates in Europe. She is desperately looking for a legacy issue and this perhaps explains why her party has been so implacable in hounding dissenters.

Sturgeon is Toxic ,alienate woman and 50 % of the Population are pissed off. This again has a hidden agenda of crushing the independence movement for her colonial masters. Last week I was at a concert in the Queen’s halls in Edinburgh where the toilets were all non gender , brand new but disgusting with urine all over the floor. This does not make women feel comfortable or men for that matter.
People are currently struggling to make ends meet but Sturgeon spends money to create division and conflict by design. This Monster of a First Minister is a usurper a sham leader a Trojan horse. Her game is to reck the independence movement in every way possible, 8 years of nothing except distruction.
If I where a SNP, MP or MSP I would be crossing the floor to another party or having a night of the long knifes to get rid of this dud narcissist. Those who accept her corupt rotten rule are complicit in her guilt.
    Dissolve the Union.

Therein lies one of the most intractable problems, GB: even well-meaning ‘trans’ people who speak up for women’s rights, are breaching our single-sex spaces, if not other aspects of our existence as females. One male means they are no longer single-sex spaces. Alastair lays it out well with his example. So, why have public funds been made available to businesses that have built new unisex toilet, while the creation of third space toilets has been wilfully ignored? Stonewall does not campaign for third spaces and shuts anyone up who mentions them. Why?

The answer is quite simple: no matter how well-meaning a ‘trans’ woman is, no matter how well-disposed to both sides a business is, the glaringly obvious fact remains that the ‘trans’ lobby does not want third spaces. It wants women’s spaces (and all our rights that go along with femaleness). Stonewall actually does all it can to render the 2010 Equality Act redundant by misrepresenting the law, and that is the legislation that specifically protects female single-sex spaces. The ‘trans’ lobby wants women and girls to open up their spaces to ‘trans’ women, and the validation is only a small part of that effort.

It is all very well to say that most ‘trans’ women will not assault women and/or girls just as it is all very well to say that most men, in general, will not assault women and/or girls. We are talking about a minority in both instances. Nevertheless, thousands of females are assaulted on a rising scale each year and between 100 and 200 females are killed each year, usually by males. These are hard facts. Add to that, that the vast majority of ‘trans’ women are autogynephiles and/or fetishists, so why the hell should women have to put up with that? They become the unwitting and unwilling and completely dehumanised bit players in male fantasies that swirl around men wanting to be women.

That would be bad enough, but these men rarely want to be strong, heroic women; they want to identify as the kind of human that is humiliated by and in pornography, that is beaten and abused, that is sexually assaulted and that is killed, and there are reams of material to show this. In other words, they want to self-identify as dehumanised victims whom, in their uber-maleness (strangely, that seems to co-exist alongside simpering woman-face) they despise, but, hey, they are really women in men’s bodies. No, you really couldn’t make this stuff up. Reams and reams of research into deviant sexual behaviours may be found on-line, and in books written by sexologists and psychologists. Little academic study exists that ‘proves’ ‘transgenderism’. It is a delusion till it can be proved, by rigid scientific applications, that it is not, but a reality. Nothing that thorough exists at all.

It is almost entirely about deviant sex and very little about body or gender dysphoria, although that certainly exists and must be excruciatingly painful. If you get a sexual thrill from dressing as a woman or even as just identifying as one without the dress and lippy, you are a deviant, heterosexual male. You might be perfectly harmless and practise your fetish at home in your bedroom, involving no one else (chances are that you alway involve others – family, usually – but you will at least be keeping it under some kind of control). What we are speaking about now is uncontrolled sexual behaviours that impinge on the lives, spaces and rights of another much larger group of people, indeed, of the entire population, and it is the entire population that must change to suit the ideology.

This is what Nicola Sturgeon and her wokerati cohort want to unleash on women and girls, children and lesbians, gay men and straight men. If anyone tries to tell you it is all about making life easier for ‘trans’ people (and, by the way, they actually mean ‘trans’ women (men), the ‘trans’ men (women) are ballast and fodder, just as ‘trans’ children are) ask them about third spaces just for ‘trans’ people and you’ll see what they really want. It should be easy to make documentation simpler for ‘trans’ identified people, while retaining their original documents and while strengthening female spaces and rights.

Trying to separate this movement from its Queer Theory origins and sexual fetish is a failure to understand its implications for all sexual laws and prohibitions, put in place to preserve a civilised society, to protect those who do not consent to being props in someone else’s sexual fantasy. Oh, and it is nihilistic, too, and was created by a combination of the all-devouring globalist, neoliberal, sociopathic capitalism and anti-intellectualism of academe that, together, are destroying the planet. Call a spade a shovel. Tiptoeing on eggshells is going to cause real harm to people and to society.

  6. lorncal says:

Sorry, GB, meant to add that almost all serial killers of women and girls show sexual fetishistic behaviour well in advance of their actual murderous sprees. It is worth pointing that out.

  7. diabloandco says:

Thanks for that , I was beginning to think that I was the wrong ‘un for believing that women had a right to single sex spaces and medicine just for them.
I cannot but agree that there are far more important things requiring the attention of any sane government than a minority but aggressive and loud group.
I understand that the SG gives money to Stonewall an act I consider careless of taxpayers – much like giving money to an alien media, an act careless of Scottish independence and the taxpayer

Personally I am sick of the SNP gender deniers, Sovereignty deniers, and Democracy deniers .Putin took 3 days to organise a referendum in the Donbas. Sturgeon can’t even do it in 8 years if you believe it.

  10. ‘I also spluttered my coffee at ‘Sexually fluid men leaking everywhere’. Sardonic anger! lol
Both of you covered the issue perfectly. Lesley Evans brought this about. It started in Whitehall’s Civil service move to ‘diversity & inclusion’ HR policy change. Round about same time Evans decided it was time to create a policy to go after former ministers for sexual or harassment. I’ve always though NS was trying to beat UK Gov to it. It has been going on there since 2017. Then WM dropped it leaving NS holding the broken baton, encouraged by British Civil servants to charge on! We know she is incapable of admitting she got anything wrong. As you say, British civil servant are rubbing their hands in glee. Is this the true meaning of Barbara Allison/Lesley Evans text – “battle maybe lost but not the war”? NS saved herself & threw her friend under the bus! The lunatics sure have taken over the asylum & Nurse Ratchet is our FM!

A refreshingly direct and clearly articulated post. I am deeply concerned about this attempt to impose some new orthodoxy, reminiscent of the worse excesses of the established religions and the Cultural Revolution. There may be some adjustments to existing law and procedures needed but this is a massive distraction of energy and resources at this time, when the snp should have been focused on and preparing for the declared goal of independence, and working with others, including former party members, who share that aim. Misjudgement or misrepresentation.. ??

  12. jgedd says:

Excellent article and comments on this quite absurd movement presenting itself duplicitously as a social justice movement. It is completely authoritarian in its actions and demands. The whole situation is Orwellian in its capture of major institutions who, either from their own authoritarian views of society or misunderstanding of what they are supporting, have given encouragement and impetus to its demands.

The international influence of the trans movement is extremely disturbing in the way it has subverted the rights of women. I begin to wonder if women were too optimistic in thinking that they had, at least in the western democracies, made great progress towards winning equality. It is in these very democracies which had made great strides in social justice in which this regressive movement has become so powerful. Could it be that a so-called movement for social justice has given a respectable cover for what seems to be misogyny, able now to push back on women’s rights while posturing as ‘progressive’?

It also seems a sinister political step-change in the so-called liberal democracies that it appears necessary for certain politicians ( who see themselves as ‘centrist’ to merge pledges of loyalty to NATO and all its works together with support for the trans platform.) There would normally have been a growing peace movement in these countries by now but dissent is being aggressively silenced by the same ‘cancel culture’ which does not permit rational debate on trans issues either. (Just like our own Dear Leader and her court of sycophants.) It all seems very like McCarthyism with its cold-war fanaticism but for the fact that McCarthyism had not allied itself with a movement for radical social change.

That’s the disguise; to ally yourself with a movement that purports to be about ‘rights’ and ‘equality’ but actually isn’t and thereby acquire the cloak of liberalism while being its opposite. Quite clever and it has wrong-footed and gulled some unthinking, well-meaning ordinary people to assume that it is just about social justice as it claims to be.
